New Feature: Free Tagging

Happy New Year to everyone. To bring in the new year I wanted to introduce a new feature to the site. FREE TAGGING If you're familiar with Flickr or Digg, you probably already know what free tagging is. If not, read on. Tagging allows any user to add keywords (tags) to a particular piece of content. Tags are any words or phrases that could have meaning to you or others in the community. For example, many of the Media Archive nodes are tagged with "small man" meaning that they have a shrunken man in the picture. Now if I and other users tagged enough of the content with the small man tag, I can simply click on the tag and get ALL the items that have a small man in them. That's pretty powerful if you're like me and have certain facets of the Giantess fantasy that you like to see more then others. Tagging can also be used to keep track of your favorite items for later retrieval. If I tag content I like as "CMB's favorites", I can then just show everything with that tag and get a complete list of all my favorite content. The success of tagging will depend on how comfortable with tagging content. So to start off, I've only turned it on for the Mainstream Media Archive. Consider it a test. If the test succeeds I'd like to move it to the Links and eventually the Forums. It's on the forums where I think we could really have some cool features. But we're going to take baby steps first :-) Finally, don't be afraid to ask me or others for help. If you have questions, simply add a comment to this thread and I'll try to answer it as soon as I see it. Happy Tagging, CMB __________________

In case folks have not yet had a chance to explore the functionality of the TAG feature, I just wanted to point out this cool accessory. All the entries in the Media Database were "tagged" when CMB and I started generating content for the database. So now, when you see the tag feature displayed in the right corner of the page, you can click on that tag and instantly get a list of all other entries that share that feature. For instance, when you see the tag "50 Ft Woman Parody" click on it and you will see a list of all entries that share that tag. It's a good way to look up images that share common characteristics!
