Description:

The theme of growing people became the subject of lighthearted comedic parody (rather than sci-fi melodrama) when Columbia Pictures released '30 Ft Bride' in 1959. The film was intended for general audiences based upon the well known name of comedian Lou Costello and the pleasant photogenic qualities of a much younger actress, Dorothy Provine. Miss Provine was a relative newcomer to the entertainment industry at the time, having worked mostly in television prior to 'Bride'. The release marked the last appearance of Costello in a studio film, and his only movie appearance without his longtime comedy partner Bud Abbott. Sadly, the film debuted just a few months after Costello's death, but at least Lou didn't have to read the reviews. However, we can enjoy this bit of cinematic silliness purely for its state-of-the-art composite camera work... such as the state was in 1959.
